Aphaia ( Ἀφαία ), whose name means " the invisible " in Greek, whose real name is Britomartis, is an ancient goddess of light and protective nature.
She was pursued by men until she disappeared into the sea. Rescued by a fisherman, she called upon her protector, who made her invisible, and she became Aphaia, "the Invisible One." Venerated on the island of Aegina, she is honored in one of the best-preserved temples in the Greek islands. The pieces in the Aphaia line are inspired by this discreet yet powerful presence.
